• I know yall have the right to post the news , but is it fair to let people make the comments and talk about under age children. I don't think the post about lori Morgan is right or services any justice. It's not right to continue to let people degrade her she know what she did and is facing punishment should she have to be public humiliated to.

  • Gilmer County foster parents have come together in hopes to raise funds for our children in care. We are organizing fundraisers to help with our cause. This is a great way for us to spread awareness about foster care in our county and for ways that our community can help our foster children. By making a donation you are giving kids opportunities to do things that they otherwise wouldn't get to do. Donations help us send our kids to summer camps, provide better care, prom dresses, host events and field trips, and so much more. Our PIG KISSING CONTEST will bring our community leaders together in a fun way to help us raise funds. We are nominating several people in community to be our Pig Kissing Victim. We will be accepting donations(votes) via paypal or cash drop off. To cast your vote you simply send us whatever donating amount that you want and put a note for the nominee your donation is voting for. The nominee with the most $$$ will be kissing our handsome pig at a public event held in June Please check out our Facebook page to review who our nominees are and to cast you votes. Who wouldn't want to see a well known community leader kiss a handsome pig?! ;) Thank you so much for supporting our kids in foster care. Every donation makes a huge difference in our kids lives. Blessings! Gilmer County Foster Care Support, Vice President - Kristie Green

  • FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE On April 21, 2016, LORI MORGAN of 117 Orchard Road, was arrested and charged with 19 felonies and one misdemeanor stemming from an investigation in which Morgan accused JOSEPH LEE HULSEY of Rape on February 1, 2016 at a residence here in Gilmer county. Based upon her complaint with some corroborating evidence, law enforcement took action to arrest Hulsey, who was on his way to Florida. He was apprehended at a bus station in Marietta the same day of the report. Captain Calvin Wilson of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office stated that they like to investigate complaints as thoroughly as possible before taking warrants, but in this case felt the need to move as quickly as possible on the arrest since Hulsey appeared to be in flight from the crime. With probable cause, a warrant was obtained and Hulsey was apprehended. While continuing the investigation, Morgan was interviewed several times because there was some concerns with the case. In the last round of questioning, Morgan admitted to lying about the rape and stated there was consensual sex between the two. Morgan was arrested and charged with False Report of a Crime, Tampering with Evidence, and 18 counts of False Statements. Hulsey remained in jail throughout the investigation without bond but was released the day Morgan confessed to lying. Hulsey was incarcerated for 70 plus days. Sheriff Stacy Nicholson stated, “We work diligently to prosecute sex offenders, but we work just as diligently to clear the name of those who have been falsely accused and deal strongly with those who knowingly falsely accuse someone of such a crime. We also extend our appreciation to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for their assistance in this matter.” #gilmersheriff
