The mission of the Gilmer County Adult Detention Center Division is to provide safe, secure, and humane detention services for individuals in custody while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect.

Our staff is committed to maintaining facility security, ensuring inmate welfare, and supporting the fair administration of justice within Gilmer County.

The Gilmer County Adult Detention Center Division is responsible for the safe, secure, and professional housing of individuals awaiting trial or serving sentences as ordered by the courts. The division operates under the direct supervision of highly trained uniformed detention officers who maintain facility security, ensure inmate welfare, and support the broader mission of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office.

Detention Center staff work twelve-hour rotating shifts to provide continuous supervision and management of the facility. Their primary responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of all inmates and staff, maintaining order and discipline within the center, and adhering to strict legal and regulatory standards governing detention operations.

The Adult Detention Center operates with a strong focus on professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rights of all individuals in custody. Staff members undergo regular training to ensure they meet or exceed all state-mandated requirements for inmate supervision, emergency response, and facility management, reinforcing the division’s commitment to excellence and public safety.
