The Patrol Division of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office serves as the backbone of daily law enforcement operations, providing professional and responsive service to the county’s citizens.

Staffed by 30 uniformed deputies, the division operates on a 12-hour shift schedule, with each shift consisting of one Watch Commander (Lieutenant), one Sergeant, and four Patrol Deputies.

These dedicated men and women are responsible for patrolling approximately 427 square miles of unincorporated Gilmer County, ensuring the safety and security of its residents, businesses, and visitors.

The Patrol Division is committed to protecting life and property, preventing crime, enforcing traffic laws, and promptly responding to emergency (E911) and non-emergency calls for service. Deputies are assigned to one of four designated patrol zones, allowing for a strategic and community-focused deployment of resources across the county.

Each Watch Commander supervises daily operations, assigns personnel, and ensures that services such as crime prevention, traffic control, order maintenance, criminal investigations, and offender apprehensions are delivered effectively and professionally.

Despite Gilmer County’s rapid growth, the Patrol Division continues to set the standard for excellence among law enforcement agencies, consistently maintaining a high level of service that is second to none. The division also emphasizes community engagement and public education, empowering citizens and business owners with the knowledge and resources needed to help protect themselves and their property.

The Patrol Division deputies take great pride in their mission, serving with honor, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to the people of Gilmer County.
